Q and A with StormHour Featured Meteorologist – Julie Wilcox

Julie Wilcox – Norfolk, VA.

Julie is a meteorologist based in Norfolk, Virginia.

After earning a journalism degree she then became intrigued with weather while a reporter. Julie decided to go back to school and earned a degree in meteorology. In her words this was the “Best decision I ever made.”

Question 1. What was your most memorable weather event?

Hurricane Isabel. Continuous coverage for 2 days.

Question 2. What is your favourite and least favourite type of weather?

Favorite weather is a nice Fall or Spring day. Least favorite is hot and humid.

Question 3. If you weren't a meteorologist what would you most like to be?

What I'm doing now–teaching. Have done 2 weather units with my 2nd graders. All about math and science.

Question 4. From a purely meteorological point of view, where would you most like to live?

​San Diego. Sunny and 70 degrees everyday πŸ˜‰

Question 5. Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I love weather for many reasons. It's challenging on so many different levels. It takes skill but also experience and gut. “This model said this last time, but was off. I'm going the other direction'
