What was your most memorable photographic event?
Quite recently, it was in Summer 2019. It was the last day of my holiday in Zante and I had woken at 4:30 am to capture the sunrise. After finding the perfect spot and setting up in the dark (and to my misfortune, right next to a wasp nest – thank goodness for a remote shutter!), I sat eagerly awaiting and was treated to the most perfect sunrise, the beginning of seen here
Which is your favourite photo and why?
Favourite photo is an odd one, it is quite an underwhelming shot, but it’s a photo of a Robin I took in Barnes. It went viral on my Facebook page and invoked so many good conversations and inspired many others to take up photography as a hobby, that it has become part of me and is my favourite.
What is your favourite piece of gear?
I love my Canon single strap rucksack lens bag. It holds all I need on a day out of photography, including all my main lenses and the tripod strapped to the side, a really nifty little bag!
Which area of photography do you specialise in?
My favourite is landscape and meteorological, I have always had a passion for the sky, cliché to say, but I love capturing that perfect sunrise or sunset! However, I equally love macro of flora & fauna!
Which camera type do you use, and which is your favourite camera (or lens)?
I currently use the Canon 200D, the smallest of the Canon DSLR family, but still packed with features. My go-to-lens is my trusted Canon USM II 18-135mm, it covers pretty much all I need.
My next camera is going to be a 5D mk IV with L-Series Lens set.
From a purely photographic point of view where would you most like to visit?
I would love to visit Iceland & Arizona, both breathtaking for scenic landscapes.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
Photography is something I promote as part of mental health well-being. I encourage people to take it up as it helps inspire the mind, gives focus and provides a great learning journey. I have had a lot of success with Weather Watching for the BBC & ITV UK Television and have inspired several to get involved. Seeing them come to life when they see one of their photos on live television is always a joy, the uplift of achievement, it’s amazing. Photography for me is my escape from the business of life, it’s my passion and I love helping guide others on this amazing journey.
