Question 1. What was your most memorable weather event?

Flying aboard a Hurricane Hunter, into the strongest hurricane ever to be recorded in the Atlantic basin (Wilma, October 2005). Then riding it out, in Naples, Florida, live on WFTV Ch.9. It was one of 11 hurricanes, and 20 landfalling tropical systems that I have covered.

Question 2. What is your favourite and least favourite type of weather?

My favorite is severe weather on the Great Plains of the United States. I love to photograph the magnificent images provided by these storms, and document their affects on the community. If it’s spinning, I want to see it. I love all types of weather, but if I had to name my least favorite, it would certainly be drought.

Question 3. If you weren't a meteorologist what would you most like to be?

A baseball play-by-play announcer or analyst. Only thing I love as much as severe weather, and coincidentally, they both start in the spring. Cut me open, and Royal Blue blood would flow out of my veins.

Question 4. From a purely meteorological point of view, where would you most like to live?

I’m fortunate enough to be living there now. The Colorado Rockies provide plenty of weather entertainment for me, with easy access to the Great Plains, for chasing down a supercell here and there.

Question 5. Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I didn’t think of getting a degree in meteorology until later in life. I was a news photographer and storm chaser for 14 years, before going back to school. I became a meteorologist in 2009, at the age of 36. It is a fascinating field to work in though. I am always learning a new lesson, either by observation, or from one of my peers
