On the evening of 7th January 1982 it started snowing in Wales, and didn't stop for the next 36 hours!
Generally the snowfall was between 40-60 cm, but some areas claimed a maximum of 77cm. Drifting was recorded as high as 6 metres due to the fine, dry nature of the snow. An archive clip from the BBC can be viewed below.
