Question 1. What was your most memorable weather event?
The most memorable weather event has got to be the fires in Fort McMurray. This Canadian story swept the globe. It's goes to show the power that wildfires have. They are a natural occurrence, however after a dry winter this led to complete devastation. As more video and stories rolled into our newsroom I knew this was going to be a historic fire. It is the largest fire evacuation in Alberta's history.
Question 2. What is your favourite and least favourite type of weather?
My favourite type of weather to follow on television is a giant snowstorm. These are exciting! You can feel the buzz in our studios as we get into storm watch and it's always fascinating to see a landscape completely change as it gets blasted by a snowstorm. And as a Canadian we know what a real snowstorm looks like. This winter Fredericton, NB saw over 80 CM in one dumping ! That was a good one this year.
Question 3. If you weren't a meteorologist what would you most like to be?
I love presenting information, it's great to have an audience that tunes in because they find me interesting and informative. I think I could do well as a teacher. I also take pride in my organization skills, so I possibly could pair that with my love of running and become a race organizer ! That would be fun !
Question 4. From a purely meteorological point of view, where would you most like to live?
Right here in the Great Lakes ! I love the change of season, every year I'm pleasantly surprised with the melt and warm spring breeze. In love with the hot summer days. Mesmerized by the beauty of the fall and fascinated with the snow-squalls and storms. The great lakes region has such interesting and changeable weather I want to be right here!!
Question 5. Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I've always wanted to be the "weather girl" ! Ever since I was in elementary school I've been telling people one day I'll be presenting you with your weather ! To have this dream job become reality is the best feeling in the world! I love going to work every single day. I have a passion for the broadcast industry and a real love for the weather.
