Question 1. What was your most memorable weather event?

My most memorable weather event was in July 2016 when 3 tornadoes touched down near Yorkton, Saskatchewan in Canada, one of which I witnessed (see photo below). A home was destroyed, but thankfully no one was injured.

Question 2. What is your favourite and least favourite type of weather?

My favourite type of weather is actually extreme cold. We get a lot of it in Saskatchewan with wind chill values as low as the -50s (Celsius), but for some reason I really enjoy the challenge of forecasting overnight lows under arctic high pressure systems. I’ll admit, I do prefer to enjoy it from the great indoors though. My favourite type of weather to enjoy outside is hot, humid weather, those days when you can almost feel the instability in the atmosphere – that gets me excited! My least favourite type of weather is freezing rain, because of the treacherous road conditions they bring and the amount of time it takes to scrape your car in the morning!

Question 3. If you weren't a meteorologist what would you most like to be?

If I weren’t a meteorologist, I’d probably want to work in some kind of choir ministry or music school. Along with my atmospheric science major I minored in music with a focus on choral conducting and am currently working on a Masters of Divinity. After singing for years and starting a choir at my church I was hooked and continue to enjoy singing in a choir today.

Question 4. From a purely meteorological point of view, where would you most like to live?

Purely from a meteorological point of view, I would probably want to live in southwestern Alberta near the Crowsnest Pass where there are lenticular clouds galore, frequent inversions, chinooks and countless other phenomenon that would keep me fascinated for a lifetime!
