Question 1. What was your most memorable weather event?

I recently had to forecast a tornado warning in Lompoc, California earlier this year. In Southern California we don't typically get tornadoes. This warning caught us all off guard because it started out as a waterspout that was beginning to make its way on land. I covered it for the KCOY morning show from 5-7 am. Luckily the tornado did not do a lot of damage and no one was seriously hurt. It brought the area gusty winds and hail. Viewers were very appreciative I kept them informed throughout the whole warning which lasted a little less than one hour.

Question 2. What is your favourite and least favourite type of weather?

I personally like all types of weather. I hope to one day be able to check out the Northern Lights in my lifetime. I was really lucky to forecast the record-breaking rain Southern California has gotten this wet season. Viewers love anytime I mention rain because it is slowly, but surely, getting us out of the five-year drought in Southern California.

Question 3. If you weren't a meteorologist what would you most like to be?

If I wasn't a Meteorologist I would be some sort of writer. I started out my career as a News Producer in TV. I won an Emmy for the Refugio State Beach Oil Spill from 2015. I was a Producer before becoming a full time on air Meteorologist. I also love writing movies in my spare time. I would probably try to break into Hollywood as a TV/Film screenwriter. I am an award-wining screenwriter for a full length film I wrote back in college at U.C. Santa Barbara as part of an Arts Requirement. It was a comedy about frivolous lawsuits. My friends, family and peers enjoyed reading the script.

Question 4. From a purely meteorological point of view, where would you most like to live?

I would like to live anywhere that has four season. Chicago and New York are two places that would definitely be at the top of my list. I'm a SoCal girl at heart, I'm sure I would miss the beautiful California weather very quickly if I ever moved out of the Golden State.
